If you have WA installed

Is your story progression working? Mine is supposed to be on but I'm getting no romances and no babies turning up in the neighborhood. I've had a few families move around but no spontaneous relationships.

  1. People are posting issues here with the patch and WA that have occured after installing. I have not had time to read through it, but maybe you could check if someone else is experiencing it there?

  3. sorry I deleted the second link as it proved to be not as user friendly and factual as the first one... lots of moaning to read through...

  4. I've had things happen but I'm not sure if that's normal story progression or was something to do with my huge glitch involving Wyatt. People broke up and took different partners. The only pregnancy started before I installed WA.

Also, I know Sims have been getting jobs because one of our Sims is now in the criminal career (which is odd because she just had a baby which is already a toddler...). I think a lot of my sp was due to the glitch. A lot of stuff got switched around, some babies aged up very very quickly while others are untouched.

I'm backing up more often now.

  5. Several sims in my free will game were not at the same place where I left them, so I know story progression is still working, but I did have lot of other glitches.

I had to replace the crib before William could put the baby in it. Then he let himself pass out from exhaustion and still wouldn't go to bed, wth free will on high.

Sam and AJ's baby was nowhere to be found and her thumbnail was gone, though she was still in the family tree. When I sent BOTH Sam AND AJ home, the baby appeared on the nursery floor and her thumbnail reappeared. Whew.

A lot of them seem to be losing friends because they're not maintaining their friendships. That never happened before in this game, and a lot of people had the stir crazy moodlet. I clearly saw that some people were getting out of the house, so maybe this is normal.

I haven't played long enough to test whether they still form new relationships or babies.

  6. I forgot to mention that I had a really odd Sim turn up in the neighborhood. His name is Forrest Landgraab and he is in the Landgraab family home. What's weird is that Forrest is an elder who suddenly appeared and is not related to Geoffrey or Nancy at all. I've never had a spontaneous elder appear in a family with the family name before. I have had one or two spontaneous elders but they had obviously just moved into town.

  7. Oh, cool. A long lost uncle or something? I love it, story wise. I hope he makes lots of trouble.

  8. Sue, I do not have WA and I have noticed those issues in my game, so perhaps they are from the patch?

I started playing the freewill game again last night and many of them had lost relationships that were well above half while I was there. I got that maintaining contact popup.

I am also experiencing that exhaustion thing, but not will all sims. Some are fine, but some just will not go to sleep or anything.. it has reoccured with more than one sim so it can't just be a coincidence.

Hmmm.. a long lost uncle or an imposter trying to take control of the inheritance? LOL, one of those 'days of our lives' 'bold and the beautiful' ridiculous plots.

  9. I made a few rounds today and, out of curiosity, went to a few of the townies households. I looked at their relationship tabs and had to laugh at a few of them. How is it possible that a Sim dislikes a toddler so much? Poor Jarrod Chevoit-Grant is disliked by Cyclone Sword. What did that poor baby do to him?

All I can say is that Cyclone better not be mean to that baby or Daddy Sam will kick Cyclones skinny behind.

  10. Cyclone Sword is such a skinny tiny dude that Jerrod should be able to kick his butt by the time he's teen. Maybe even as a child but he might need his dad's help a little then. :) Daddy Sam would certainly not tolerate Cyclone being the least bit nasty to any child of his.

Forrest Landgraab, once I established that he definitely had no real connection to the family, got the boot. So no soap opera moments up there.

  11. Have any of you tried a free will family on vacation? I'm getting lots of people wanting to travel, but I'm afraid if I send them on vacation they'll just stand around. The only thing I've found out for sure so far is that I can send them to the martial arts academy and they'll start training on their own.

  12. I wouldn't bother with free will on holiday. They'll just hang at base camp.

If you send them to a museum, they will check out exhibits on their own - Rachel did some of that while Indiana Sam was exploring.

But if you send them on holidays, I'd say that's a good time to control them so they get the best from their time away.

  13. Ok, I had to fiddle with Sam's neighborhood but story progression is back.

I am definitely now getting couples moving in together once they hit the boyfriend/girlfriend stage or higher. I don't know if that's the patch or WA.

The latest couple was another surprise, Christopher Steel has a boyfriend. So the game has created both gay and lesbian couples now. Plus there is a new straight couple that are now holding a baby in the neighborhood view.

  14. PiB, I think this might be a patch update, as I have noticed gf/bf status couples moving in together while playing a bit tonight with my freewill game... still trying to finish it all:/

  15. I'm thrilled about bf/gf moving in together. But honestly I want the option of same sex couples under my control, not the games.

  16. Yes, I agree about same sex couples. It's one thing if you start it, I expected such things once I had Sam kick things off with Thomas. But I'm not keen on having several couples like that when I've been playing straight relationships in the game. I think it's another unintended side effect and one that they'll need to fix or they'll lose at least some of their customers.

  17. I don't mind it at all. I like it. It seems more realistic to me but no one should have to play a style they don't enjoy.

I believe PiB is right, it's an unintended consequence of their update to story progression. My solution would be th EA install a toggle so you can enable or disable this feature (same-sex spontaneous partners) so people can play whichever way they wish and no one is offended.

If EA leaves it as is or removes it outright they're going to offend a portion of their customers. It's a no win for them.

  18. BTW - if you have WA. The biggest of the Display Cases has a special feature. If you put a set of items on of a similar type, you can activate the case and it will transform those items. I did that last night with a bunch of cut stones and got a Soul??? stone back (forgot the name already drat.) It's supposed to cure Sims of conditions so might be handy if you've met a mummy...
