Hi:)

So yes, a bit slow and all... but anyways, here I am.

I put a bit about myself on my profile page, so you can get to know me a bit more.

Tomorrow I have an exam *dreading it*, so that is why I have been more quiet(if that is possible), lol, than normal.

Glad to be here, and hopefully I can add something insightful in the future, though I must say I am a complete noob when it comes to using all the fancy commands to move stuff and so on.

I have played sims since 2004 when I got sims1. Micheal Bachelor was my favorite character for some reason.

In sims2 I loved the Broke's and the Burb's most and they have seriously over-populated the town.. lol.. there are hundreds of them. I liked Pleasantview best of all.
I downloaded Gimp to start creating my own hairstyles and clothes and so on, but never got around to learning how to use it sadly.
I uploaded houses mostly on sims2 site.

In sims3 I am enjoying playing Legacies, and though I have not played with any of the old characters to date, Micheal Bachelor did somehow end up getting married to one of my sims.

My avatar is of my fav sim, Morticia CrinkleWinkle.. she really grew on me, perhaps because inadvertently, even though she was a random trait rolled sim, she turned out been alot like me.

Anyway, hope this post wasn't too long.. back to the books for now.

-worsiedog-

p.s the (w) in worsiedog is pronounced (v), it is afrikaans slang for sausage dog.... I have one, along with my cat, who I have mentioned in Dee's blog.

  1. Yay, another pet lover!

    Welcome 'n' stuff.

I use Gimp too, but am nowhere near confident enough to attempt hair. I know how hard it will be. Maybe we can help each other learn Gimp as we go along.

  2. Hi Sue:)

LOL, well as for Gimp you are lightyears ahead of me I suspect. But I have been following Legacies where I see the amazing things that people do with it in enhancing their screenshots. So I will endeavour to learn more when the exam period is over.

Yes, I currently have a cat, Nikodemus, he is 16, a sausage dog, Lilo, she is 5, and 2 hamsters... *sigh*, my daughters pets.. fifi and fluffy.

I had a border collie, Tallulah, but sadly she passed on recently after 13 years of loyal service and love. She was our marine.

I noticed, that many here seem to be cat people :D

The sims2 was so much easier to attempt stuff. The way they have made the files now in sims3, I really don't see how one can do changes without having a wealth of experience. I think I will practice with my sims2 first. I am even too nervous to install CC atm.

Gimp scared me abit so I focused my energies in creating houses and community lots instead.

I played legacy style games for myself but never thought to actually write a story and do a blog until sims3.

I am sure I will learn alot from you guys and look forward to the adventure.

  3. I know what you mean about Gimp making you nervous; it does me, too. We can probably all share knowledge about thing like cc and creating and gameplay. That's why it was such a good idea to make a group blog. Whose idea was that? PiB? Dee? Smart, anyhow.

  4. We have 2 dogs, no cats. :-) In fact, this particular blog was set up for blogging for or about (I forget which) my older dog Merlin. Thus merlindogblog. :-)

I have used Gimp a bit but if I really want to edit, I have Photoshop. I tried a bit of CC manipulation in Sims 2 and have decided not to bother in Sims 3. My Sims will struggle on as ever with no CC in their lives, just as they did in Sims 2.

And yes, you can do some nice stuff with the screenshots in things like Gimp. But I prefer concentrating on the game, the screenshots are just what happened.

  5. Welcome to the group blog. I was wondering if you would join us here.
I have never even tried to make any cc or downloaded any. I seem to spend every spare moment just playing and blogging.
with sims1 I played on a pc that was online but never got involved with the community. With sims2, up until February of this year, I was playing on a hand me down laptop that wasn't connected to the internet. My desktop was so old, sims2 wouldn't work on it. By then, all I could think of was getting sims3.

  6. Lol.. I know that feeling, when I got sims2 my desktop was prehistoric...my nice hubbie bought me a new one in 2006... perhaps after sims2 fried his laptop:/ lol

I do declare, I prefer playing with my sims myself, and I like thinking up new stories about my sims and how to get them across, pictures can be powerful in that way, in some respects.

As for CC, I drool at everyone else's creations and try make my sims look pretty with make up or cool clothes that i have retouched with create-a-style.

    I don't have photoshop:/ lol

    *waves at Merlin*

  7. I never had a cat until I met my present husband of 18 years, next month. He's my sons stepfather but they get along great. In fact, my oldest son was the one who introduced us. I always had dogs before meeting him. I remember when he wanted to buy our first computer. I asked him why we needed one. LOL.

I too see some cc that I think is beautiful, but after saving for 9 months to get this computer, I just don't want to take any chances with it. I know most of it is safe, but also know that if I ever start, I won't stop.

I just don't want to take the time to make and move files and search for the stuff.

  8. Yes, I know how that saving for the pc feels.. we had to save for my new one, and also saved to update my graphics card and new memory and a new PSU *rolls eyes* i have atm.

I like to keep my pc pristine and free of *other things*, I can't afford a meltdown.

Lol, even my desktop only has the recycle bin as an icon.. besides of course for my 'men in loin cloths' 300 pic...

I have had a cat all my life. But this cat, my little devil, is the longest a cat has lived with me.. lol, he was around before I met my husband!

  9. I also had dogs all my life. Fate rendered me pet-less for a while, until one day my sister surprised me with my first kitten. I recently lost her, my baby and my four-legged soulmate of 21 years.

I will never be without a pet again as long as I live. I'm one of those people who can't seem to survive for long without one.

Cats are incredibly low maintenance compared to dogs, and they have their own special charm. I love both.

  10. When I was a wee pup, my family used to always have cats and dogs. Plus a rabbit, and various miscellaneous pets.

My husband had a cat when we first got together.

Then we spent a long time without pets. Finally moved to a house with a fence and I went looking for a puppy. We found Merlin on our second weekend. A year later we acquired Melanie.

My mom and sister prefer cats and whenever I'd visit them, I'd get my cat time in. Mom passed away July this year and the cats in the neighborhood must wonder what happened to their friend.

  11. I just got back to this one. I really must check my email more often.
It's always hard when we lose a family member, whether that member was human or animal.

21 years. That gives me hope that my cat will be around for a long time to come.

  12. :( Sue I am so sorry for your loss... but your sad story does give me hope that my cat might be with me for many years to come.

He has been for his annual checkups and so far his kidneys are fine, and he has not had to have any teeth removed, but he has had a toothclean.

He is an extremely 'tiny' cat according to cat standards.

PiB, I read about your mom in your other blog, and I am truelly sorry... I did not want to comment there in case I bring up old wounds... I cannot imagine life without my mom.
