Derailed!

I played a little today after my latest blog.  I wanted to age Mara into toddler hood.  I did so and saved and played some more.  My last save went kablooey.  It threw me out of the game.  No worries, I'd saved earlier and I know how to deal with a corrupt file.

I had no .bad file.  I had no main Walker file.  I did have a backup in the Sims 3 saves.  Great!  Nope. That backup was so old that Wade was a baby and it didn't have any of the changes I made to the house.  So, I went to my last manual backup which was two weeks ago.  Wade is a toddler and no Mara.  So, I'm not sure what to do about my last blog entry. *laughs*

It's all a dream!  I'll probably nuke it and start over.  Opinions?  Suggestions?  I will try for another new baby and I'll do the watermelon trick to get a girl, again.  At least I love playing this family!

  1. OMG Chrysame! I am sorry:/

As I got your email notification I experienced a glith with Valentia... half her lot became blue:/ I tried to arrange a date with Christopher at the beach, and when it went to 'choose destination' I saw half of her lot was blue:/

    GRRR... it is very frustrating..

We all understand, because we are all experiencing glitches...but if you want to explain it you could do one of those classical 'dallas' episode... 'pamela dreamed the whole thing'

lol.. :/ it's not funny I know, but humor keeps us sane at these difficult times of glitch annoyance.

  2. Ha! I was thinking that very thing, Worsie! I'm just not sure I could pull off the giant Pam hair for the scene.

It's no big deal. I have my backup so it only cost me two days of game play. Easy to make up and fun, too! It won't be difficult to get Marta and Wyatt to "try", again. Although this time I won't be waiting for the wish for baby to pop up!

    Thanks for the giggle!

  3. LOL, I remember, i was 12 or so, when that Dallas episode aired in South Africa... I sat glued to the TV the whole season! Because I was a fan of Bobby, when he was Aquaman before that... gawd I am old.. lol

anyhoo... I remember been supremely ticked off when the new season started and Pam stepped out the shower and Bobby was there... I mean GEEZ! Scarred me for life... LOL

Proberbly why I detest soap opera's now. LOL

  4. The show was called Man from Atlantis! It was on around 1977 or so. Heehee.

I wasn't ticked about the shower scene because it was Patrick Duffy in a shower scene. Not too shabby.

  5. Ah yes! Man from Atlantis! LOL, I remember I had a pinup of him on my wall, and my evil little brother decided to get vengeance one day.

Him and his evil friend Kyle, sat and chewed up my Patrick Duffy in the Yellow Speedo poster into a gazillion little pieces, just like bubblegum... LOL

I never forgave him for that! HAHA

  6. Obviously, your little brother and Kyle were both vying for the Emperor of Evil title with that stunt!

I hope your blue lot glitch cleared up. *crosses fingers*

  7. Oh, ouch. I know how you feel. However you do or don't write it into the story is fine with me. I love it wherever it goes.

  8. At least I still have Wade and can age him back up to child and try again with the whole pregnant Marta! I might leave it as is and just substitute the new Mara when she's born. *reminds self to feed Marta watermelon during pregnancy*

I was in game and checking around. I had to reload the pub and I started getting the weird hand grab glitch. It's still okay, though. I have my tea and gingersnaps so it's all good.

  9. Man, I am sorry to hear about the save.

As you know, recover the story however you want, we'll be there and reading it.

Ah Dallas. In my college years, the perfect counter to a week of work was Dukes of Hazzard and Dallas. Mindless fun. I stopped watching Dallas before the whole "I dreamed it" thing though.

BTW serious geek alert Patrick Duffy was in Man from Atlantis before Dallas. Not Aquaman.

  10. Apologies for not reading the whole sequence of comments first. You guys knew it was Man from Atlantis. I'll go play in the forums as punishment.

  11. I think I forgot to mention, thanks for download the pub, Chrysame. I'm glad you guys like it.

  12. The Pub is obviously awesome as the Magician showed up there and chatted with AJ. So, I will leave the blog as is and try to catch up Marta and Wyatt with a new baby Mara.

It also means I lost AJ and Jedidiah's new daughter. Emma Hatch is fat, again (I'd snuck over to her place and bought her a change of clothes and a treadmill!)and I lost other townie babies. Oh well, we'll see what happens this go around.

  13. Yep, It's a "It was all a dream time".

Oh, I remember Man from Atlantis and Dallas. I loved Man from Atlantis. I also loved Dallas until JR was shot and I spent the re-run season listening to everyone I worked with talk about it. That's all I heard for ages. I never watched it again.

  14. The fact that you all remember The Man from Atlantis just endears you to me even more. Geeks rule. *reads her comic books*

  15. I am an idiot. *bangs head on desk* I had a nice long session tonight. The house was expanded and I pushed the button after visiting our sims. Marta and Wyatt had a baby boy. Wade became a teen. All was good. I'd saved throughout the session. Then I decide I'm done for the night. Error 12. No big deal. I'll delete the corrupt file and use the EA generated backup.

There is no backup. Just two bad files. Okay, I use the manual backup I created yesterday. Yes, I'll lose the baby and the birthday and other new babies (sorry Max Staple) but still I can deal. No file in the manual backup. The backup is dated yesterday. So either I did the manual backup before I had new baby Mara (I had saved the the new Mara game under a new save name) or I'm missing files because I fubared the manual backup somehow.

GAHHHH!!! So, now I'm back to toddler Wade, no Mara, no expanded house and no new baby Walker (a boy I named Martin). Good thing I made a chocolate cake today. I need it.

I'm cleaning my registry, doing other maintenance and then I'll start over tomorrow. Mara V. 3 here we come. *bangs head on desk*

  16. Okay, maintenance finished and there were no issues. I do regular maintenance. Lesson of the day? Backup manually after each session and not once a week. I did back up on Monday but before I ventured into Mara land. I should have backed up after Mara v. 2 was born. Like I said, lesson learned.

  17. :( Major bummer.

I hate to say it, but if it fails to save again, you may have a permanent glitch in that copy of the neighborhood. In Sims 2, I had to move my University greeks twice and one family due to permanent glitches on the lots. Since Sims 3 is an open neighborhood, you might have to start a new one.

I'd save a copy of the family to the bin, just in case.

  18. I think I would be ready to scream.

  19. I'm going to save the family to the bin. Then I'm going to do a new install. I think I'll move the family to Riverview.

I think you're right about this game being permanently glitched, PiB. I seem to be having the most issues after I've been in edit town mode. I think I'll patch the game up until the last two patches. I'm not sure what I have to patch to in order to install WA.

    I guess I'll find out.

  20. Actually, I decided not to upload the family and just do the uninstall. I think if I go back to Wyatt and Marta, I'll do so with a fresh start. Right now, I'm just too disappointed in all the problems and losses. Fresh install, fresh start.

  21. Completely reinstalled the game (minus the latest patches. Your sims and lots have been re-downloaded. I might have an idea on how to restart my Marta story. We'll see if it pans out. Hopefully, the new install minus all my exchange houses (only downloaded Sue and Dee's lots) will mean a cleaner game with less glitches.

  22. I'm gearing up for the next chapter in Marta's blog. I've renamed the old blog Doing Time with Marta (almost sounds like a Martha Stewart show that might have aired when she was in jail. "And now we finely dice the cooked oysters. Remember, do not try this with a plastic spoon at home!" ).

  23. I'm excited. Watching for it.
