Still attempting to get Indiana's neighborhood back on track

It's too quiet in blog land so I thought I'd tell you guys my plans for Indiana at the moment.

a) Turn off aging and sp NOW!
b) Let Judy have baby 3 (this is supposed to happen without aging on)
c) After the baby is born, travel the neighborhood.

I hope to get Bella Bachelor preggy with her boyfriend Malcolm before she turns elder.

I also plan on noting the born in games I do have. I may put out a call for small families with a teenager to meet up with some teens I do have in the hood - the Leman boys and Ernesto for starts

I may try to get some of the families back into town by moving one in with the Grants then moving them to a home. Then they can get the rest of the family to move in.

Delete some elders and especially anyone who shouldn't be around by now. I think Micheal Bachelor still thinks Jocasta is alive and she shouldn't be by now.

Then I will have put off the inevitable long enough - back to the Grants with aging back on for our farewell to Sammy. :(

  1. *fingers crossed* for you PiB.

It's very quiet in our little blog land. Need more NOISE!

  2. I only have a minute or two to make noise. Our power went off for a short time and then we lost the internet. Just got it back. I gave up and played sims.

Sounds like a plan PiB. Nothing happening in my game either. I moved AJ back into the game hoping something would happen. I've been trying some other things hoping to get things to happen. Maybe I can update tomorrow with what I've been up to. I did have one death but it was a townie that I had never seen until today and he didn't have a home in town.

I still wonder if this is happening because I didn't start a new town after the last two updates. I always have before. If that is the case it, just ain't right to have to start over after patches. I haven't patched this last time because the internet was off when I started the game.

If nothing happens the next time I play, I'm moving some sims to a new game. Maybe still in Riverview.

I'm getting glitchy. Got a couple of stuck cars. One is in front of the hospital. Remember I moved Sonya because of the stove glitch.

    See you all tomorrow, hopefully.

  3. I'm hoping to get some playtime in tomorrow. The snow has kept my daughter home and we've been having some momma/tween togetherness. She made her first batch of cupcakes!

I did move the Walker/Tomasi house to a bigger lot and made a few changes. There was a car stuck in front of the driveway and it was driving me bonkers. I understand some mods have a command that lets you get rid of abandoned vehicles.

I'm not sure I dare to try one. I guess it would be okay as long as I backed everything up. I'm still on the fence about it.

  4. Someone mentioned a trick for getting rid of taxis. You have to get yourself semi-in the car so your Sim can try to get the driver to Pose. The moment you do, the taxi vanishes. I had a taxi outside of the Grant house for days and this trick did it.

You aren't meant to have to start again with every patch or update. I never did need to with Sims 2 though I did have to move Sims from very glitched lots.

  5. It looks like I will get some playtime in today too chrysame. Weather...again.
I know your weather is worse than mine.

The stuck cars in my game are Sloppy Jalopies.
I even tried to have Sonya steal the one in front of the hospital. When she walked up to it, it disappeared. When she walked away, it reappeared. I'm going to keep going in this game as long as I can.

I'm going to get rid of CAW again.

  6. I decided to try one of Twallan's mods. I'm starting with Story Progression although Super Computer might be better.

Anyway, I found these options (and there are a lot of options for customization.)

You can determine the number of children a household will strive for and various traits will adjust this number up or down.

You can determine the chance of each married couple trying for a baby. This will automatically increase if your town is in danger of ghosting.

Lots of other pregnancy, romance, flirting, etc. options to help keep a town viable.

I only played with it for a little bit so I've still got a lot of options to tinker with and figure out what I like or dislike.

  7. Let me know how that goes. That or the super computer do sound like what the neighborhood needs to get it back on track. I probably only really need them long enough to clean up my homeless and put to rest those that should be dead.

  8. Ok, I don't need to freeze time. I've been using the super computer like mad. I've managed to retrieve AJ, Jon and Dana (plus Dana's girlfriend). I've "pollinated" Malcolm and his girlfriend Bella + insured that Marta and Wyatt will have a second child + they are married. I booted out all the service Sims so they will be regenerated over time. There were about 40 of them!

So I think that the neighborhood can do some serious recovery now.

  9. My little people are still debating this. The one on my right shoulder says get it. The one on my left shoulder says wait.
You sound as excited as I get when I like something.

Right now I'm going to go tour my neighborhood and decide who to upload. Just working on my first cup of coffee.

  10. Is the mod working the way you hoped, PiB? It sounds like you're pleased.

I'm hooked on his story progression mod now. There's so much customization and the neighborhood feels so dynamic now.

I'm curious to hear your impressions of the super computer mod now that you've used it a bit.

  11. Quite frankly, I had no idea how the Super Computer thing would work. There are a lot of options that I'd like better explanations for.

But I do like it. I can find out stats about my town. I can do things like make a baby without having to switch households. I could switch households without the bother of Edit Neighborhood first.

I used super computer to send Tate and Ernesto to a mirror so I could save them to my CAS. I used it to reset a lot Sims were stuck on (though it may have been super computers fault that those Sims were stuck).

All up, it's great for controlling households you aren't playing!

  12. Ok, another break to another old save to test Story Progression mod. It's an old tale of Sam and his mad scientist. So far, Story Progression has offered to run my homeless out of town (I refused just in case there was a Sim there I wanted). And it's been trying to make sense of the work relationships so for an evening there were lots and lots of notifications of work changes.

I'm waiting to see what it will do about the fact that the neighborhood really wasn't spawning enough babies. And develop a set of rules for what I like that I can export for the next neighborhood.
